DrawBridge provides art programs for homeless and other vulnerable children in an environment that fosters their sense of joy, creativity, and exuberance. Beyond that, DrawBridge strives to promote the well-being and stability of family by creating a supportive community in which children help other children, establishing a lifetime of giving. Groups meet once a week at shelters, transitional housing, or low-income housing where the children are living. Each group is staffed by a facilitator and volunteers who support the children and youth as they make art. There are times that something deeply emotional takes shape in the art the child is creating. Having an adult present to gently support and listen to the story the art is telling creates a comforting environment for the child.
